14mm or 16mm? Choosing the right pickleball paddle
Core thickness is the single biggest decision when buying a pickleball paddle. A 14mm core is firmer and faster, giving you more pop on drives and put-aways, but it demands cleaner contact. A 16mm core is softer and more absorbent, widening the sweet spot and making dinks, blocks and resets far more repeatable.
